I want a maintenance-free roof—is it possible?
There are several maintenance-free roofing solutions available to you including metal, tile, and slate roofs. Metal roofs provide the best performance in terms of overall maintenance, however, if you looking for an option that is cost effective and is still low maintenance, then an lifetime algae resistant fiberglass shingle roof will meet your needs.

Will my new roof last a lifetime?
This is completely dependent upon the type of roof you install. A properly layed, well cared for asphalt shingle roof can last up to 20-50 years without needing replacement. Cedar shakes or shingles are resistant to bugs; however, options such as metal may last 30 years or more. Additionally, if installed correctly, metal, tile, and slate roofs will last a lifetime with little to no maintenance required.

Can you recover my existing roof?
Yes, it's possible but there are some underlying conditions you should know about. The new roof will not last as long when laying on top of a layer of old shingles vs. laying on plywood because it will be heated from the top and bottom. Also, you will not know the condition of the plywood or the roof decking that the nails are anchored to during a roof recover. If the existing roof shingles are not lying flat you are more prone to shingle blow offs.

How do I know if I need a new roof?
You can usually tell with a visual inspection of the shingles. Look for cracks, curling, or loss of granule surfacing.

Does a leak in my roof mean replacing the entire roof?
Not necessarily, a leak due to storm damage or another event may need to be patched. However, if you have multiple small leaks or an aged roof, the best solution may be replacement.

How do I know when my roof needs repair?
Any of the following are indicators of your roof needing some type of repair:

  • Termite Damage
  • Rotting
  • Curling or Loose Shingles
  • Wallpaper That Shows Stains, Is Separating, or Is Damp at the Ceiling.
  • Ceiling Spots That Are Damp or Brown and Resemble Small Puddles

If your roof is more than 15 years old, it may need replacing. If you have one or more of these issues, it is best to have an inspection done to determine the size of your roof's problems.
